Most applications have to do a lot more than handle a single parameter and
return a simple string result, so we're not going to confine ourselves to
'hello world' anymore.
Our case study customer, "Fogkids Apparel Incorporated" sells children's
clothing online and, because of contractural obligations, some of the
business' operations require a web services interface. The business' core
applications are
- Customer catalog browsing
- Administrative catalog management
- Shopping carts and wish lists
- Shipping and tax calculations
- Financial transactions
- Shipping workflow and tracking
We'll take the use cases for the first component and expose them as
web services.
